PDRN, exosomes, NAD+, peptides, EGF and spicules are everywhere, but what do they actually do? This guide breaks down the science behind today’s most talked-about skin longevity actives and explains why formulation, stability, delivery and compatibility matter more than buzzwords.

PDRN. Exosomes. NAD+. Peptides. EGF. Spicules. Skin Longevity Science or Just Hype?

They are everywhere right now: new launches, treatment rooms, social media and ingredient lists.

But the real question is not, “Does my serum contain the latest ingredient?” It is, “What is this actually doing for my skin?”

That is where the skin longevity conversation should start.

  • PDRN: Recovery. Polydeoxyribonucleotide, often called “salmon DNA,” is being studied for its potential to support skin recovery, hydration and healthier-looking skin. Source, concentration, stability and formulation still matter.
  • Exosomes: Communication. These microscopic extracellular vesicles are involved in cell-to-cell signaling. In simple terms, they are messengers. But “contains exosomes” is not enough. Source, processing, stability and delivery matter.
  • NAD+: Energy. NAD+ is a coenzyme involved in cellular energy metabolism. It belongs in the skin longevity conversation because of its role in energy, resilience and repair pathways. Stability and delivery still matter.
  • Peptides: Signals. Peptides are not one ingredient. Different peptides do different jobs. Some support firmness, smoother texture and the appearance of fine lines. The better question is: Which peptides, and why are they in the formula?
  • EGF: Renewal. Epidermal Growth Factor is a signaling protein involved in cellular communication and epidermal renewal. In skincare, it is used to support smoother, fresher-looking skin over time.
  • Spicules: Stimulation. These microscopic needle-like structures can create controlled surface stimulation and may improve delivery of certain ingredients. But deeper is not automatically better, and they are not for every skin type.

Here is what marketing often leaves out: one impressive ingredient does not make an impressive formula.

What matters is the full formula, concentration, stability, delivery system, pH, ingredient compatibility and the skin concern being addressed.

That is the difference between ingredient marketing and skin longevity formulation.

At Lovinah, we do not use advanced ingredients simply because they are trending. We look at how they function inside the complete formula and whether they make sense for the skin we are trying to support.

Advanced ingredients. Controlled formulation. Real data.

Skin longevity is not about chasing buzzwords. It is about healthier-looking, more resilient skin over time.
