Check Your Skin Type

Check Your Skin Type

Knowing your skin type is absolutely necessary in order to make a right decision about a proper skin care or treatment, which is suitable for your particular skin needs. As we all know there are five basic skin types: oily, normal, dry, sensitive and aging skin. It’s very important to know which skin type is your skin, in order to use the right cosmetic products and to know how to take care of your skin properly. If you want to determine your skin type you should follow the following steps:
  • wash your face
  • take a few pieces of paper
  • press it on different spots on your face
  • The results:
  • if the paper sticks, pick up oily spots or become translucent your skin is oily
  • if the paper doesn’t stick or pick up any oily spots your skin is dry
  • if it sticks on your so called T zone /including forehead, chin and nose/ your skin is normal
Oily skin Oily skin tends to shine with enlarged pores and unfortunately is prone to blackheads, blemishes and pimples. The oily skin needs special cleansing; you should use special cosmetic products for oily skin (we recommend Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel, Vichy Normaderm Daily Exfoliating Gel, L`oreal Pure Zone) ; always wash your face with hot water, because the hot water dissolves skin oil better than the cold or lukewarm water. It is proved that smoking promotes enlargement of the pores and impairs the overall health of the skin, so it is a good reason to quit smoking. Before applying the makeup, use an antiseptic day cream with active ingredients that diminish sebaceous secretion. The good thing about the oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types. Normal skin About 75 % of the women have a normal skin. Typical for the normal skin is that it has little pores, even texture and healthy color. If your skin is normal you should cleanse it no more than twice a day, using baby soap or alcohol-free lotions like the Bulgarian rose water. Don’t forget to follow every cleansing with a mild freshener to keep pored tight and to remove the traces of cleanser clinging to the skin. Always use a mild, oil-based moisturizer before applying makeup to help retain the surface moisture. Sensitive skin Sensitive skin tends to be thin and delicate. That type of skin is prone to broken capillaries and is frequently allergic. The sensitive skin reacts quickly to both cold and heat. The temperature changes, the cosmetics products, some foods, the sun exposure can cause irritation. If you have sensitive skin avoid hot liquids or foods, extreme temperatures/ sauna, solarium, Jacuzzi/. You should always wear UVA/UVB protection. Dry skin Those with dry skin may feel their skin tight and dehydrated. It can appear ashy or dull from the dead skin buildup. Usually the dry skin isn’t serious condition, but it can be uncomfortable and unsightly, turning plump cells into shriveled ones and creating fine lines and wrinkles. It is essential for those with dry skin to moisturize it every day. The moisturizers provide a seal over the skin to keep water from escaping. You can also apply baby oil, if your skin is extremely dry. You should avoid harsh, drying soaps. We recommend Roc Enydrial Derma-Calming Cleanser, Lancome Hydra Zen Gentle Cream Aging skin The aging skin usually feels tight with visible wrinkles and ashen skin tone. Unfortunately, there is no way to stop the aging, but there are many great anti-aging cosmetic products, that make miracles. It’s essential to use a sunscreen every day, because the sun damage is 80% responsible of premature ski n aging. Smoking also causes several adverse effects on the skin and destroys the collagen, which is responsible for keeping the skin elastic, strong and healthy. If you want to slow up the aging process you should drink plenty of water every day and eat a healthy, well-balanced diet.
